Text Only

These question types simply Allows you to type in text for the user. For example you may want them to read through some text of your choice or even just give the user some encouragement.
Choose the 'Text Only' question type from the dropdown.

You can now enter the text you want the user to see in the 'Text' section highlighted here.

To add an image which will be displayed to the user above the text; click the 'Choose Image' (1), navigate and choose your image(2) then click the open button (3).

Now save your changes by clicking the 'Save' button at the bottom right of the screen.

Video / Video(No skip) / Video(Reward Levels) / Video(End of quest) / Video(End of quest All rewards)
These question types simply show a video to the participants. Creators may upload a video or use video links from popular video websites such as Youtube or Vimeo. Glims allows creators to set start and end times for a video. This allows creators to use a single video with multiple sections to be easily used.
Choose the 'Image Placement 2D' question type from the dropdown.

You now need a URL for a video source. In this example a Youtube URL is copied from the address bar of a video. You could also use the share button just below the video.

Once you have your video URL paste it into the 'Video' section highlighted here in green.

Glims allows you to set a start and end time for your video.

3D Panorama

This question type lets the player look around a 3d panoramic image and requires them to click a specific spot. This question type could be used to ask participants to find a particular hazard in an image for example.
Choose 3D Panorama from question type drop down.

If you want you may enter your question text now in the Question box.

To add your Panorama image click the 'Choose Image' (1), navigate and choose your image(2) then click the open button (3).

Once your image has been added click the 'Add Answer' button (1) which puts a red box (2) on your image that you can use to drag around and resize to be the spot a participant will need to click to get the answer correct.
Text Colour

Here we can see the red box has been moved (1) and for more specific changes you may use the size and position boxes (3).
To set the start position of the Panoramic image you can move the 'Default Rotation' slider (2) So if you drag the slider to the middle. the starting position of the Panoramic question will be at the middle of the image.

3D Slider

This question type allows participants to drag and drop 3d objects to specific spots. One way of using this question type is matching a city with a country etc.

Type in your question text highlighted here in green

Now you can type in the text for sliders and slots the boxes highlighted here in green. Slider text is displayed on the green cylinders in the example image above. Slot text is displayed on the grey squares seen in the example image above.

In the last section if needed the number of sliders/slots can be adjusted between 1 and 4.
Also the number of attempts players have at this question can be adjusted from between 1 and 3.

Categorise

This question type allows participants to drag and drop words onto specific images. In the image above the participant is asked to drag each word in yellow to a matching image.
Choose Categorise from question type drop down.

Type your question text in the box highlighted in green here.

Now you need to add the Category images by clicking the 'Add Category' button.

After the Category has been created you need to add an image by clicking 'Choose File' (1), navigate and choose your image(2) then click the open button (3).

The you can add the answers that will need to be dragged into this Category. The answers will look like the boxes shown in the example image at the start of this section.

Additional answers can be added by clicking the 'Add Answer' button under existing answers.

To add additional Categories you can click the green 'Add Category' button below existing Categories.

Free Text / Free Text(Paragraph) / Free Text(Paragraph min8)

This question type simply asks a question and has a text box for a participant to type their answer. This question type could be used to ask something like what is the capital city of a country similar to the image above. Free Text(Paragraph) and Free Text(Paragraph min8) question types are similar to the standard Free Text question although they have no answers so are best used for open ended questions eg asking a participant to describe their favourite television show.
Choose the 'Free Text' question type from the dropdown.

You can then type your question text in the Question box highlighted in green.

To add answers click the 'Add New' button.

You can then type the answer you want to be accepted. You can also add additional answers which could be used if you want to allow alternate spelling or slang etc.

Image Placement 2D

This question type allows participants to drag specific images to specific spots on another image. In the image above participants are asked to drag the lungs and heart on the left onto the correct position on the image to the right.
Choose the 'Image Placement 2D' question type from the dropdown.

You can then type your question text in the Question box highlighted in green.

To add a main image that will be used to drag other items onto click the 'Choose Image' (1), navigate and choose your image(2) then click the open button (3).

To add an answer which will be used to drag onto the main image you can click on the 'Add Answer' button highlighted here in green.

To use an image for the newly created answer click the 'Choose Image' (1), navigate and choose your image(2) then click the open button (3).

You will then see a preview of the image answer.

Your new image answer will then be available to position and resize where/how you want it.

In this image we can make the image answer bigger or smaller by moving the Scale slider highlighted here in green.

As you move the slider to the right the image answer increases in size

Each image answer has an accuracy circle highlighted in green which means players have to get the image placement closer or further away from the center of the image answer.

As Accuracy number is increased so does the size of the accuracy circle highlighted here in green.

Here the image answer is moved to the position that we want players to place the answer.

To add additional answers you can click the 'Add Answer' button.

If required you can set a specific answer image to be excluded. This can be useful when you have multiple image answers but only want specific correct answers.

The final option is setting the total attempts allowed on this question. This is a range from 1 to 3.

Multichoice

This question type allows participants to choose from the correct answer from a selection of answers. GLIMS allows creators to require multiple answers or just a single answer to the get the question correct. Also creators can set the question to have multiple answers eg when asking a participant what kind of vehicle do they drive, they could select car, van, motorbike each being the correct answer.
Choose the 'Multichoice' question type from the dropdown.

You can then type your question text in the Question box highlighted in green.

To add your answer text add them in the 'Answer #' sections highlighted here in green. You can have a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4 answers.

After you have entered all you answers you can choose which answer is the correct one and how many answers are expected. So you could have multiple answers for a question where only 1 of them is required to get the question correct. Or you could have 3 different correct answers and 2 are required to get the question correct.

Multichoice Images

This question type allows participants to choose from the correct answer from a selection of answers which are images.
GLIMS allows creators to require multiple answers or just a single answer to the get the question correct eg what colour can a honey bee be, yellow, black, blue. You could set the question to require 2 answers yellow and black.
Also creators can set the question to have multiple answers eg when asking a participant what kind of vehicle do they drive, they could select car, van, motorbike each being the correct answer.
Choose the 'Multichoice Image' question type from the dropdown.

You can then type your question text in the Question box highlighted in green.

To add an image to use as an answer click the 'Choose Image' (1), navigate and choose your image(2) then click the open button (3).

Similar to Multichoice Text questions you can choose which of the images are the correct answers. This lets you to have multiple accepted answers for the question. It is best to use images that are the same resolution and for a uniform look when the question is displayed to users as in the example image at the top of this question type section.

Voice (Google Engine) / Voice (No Engine)
These question types allow creators to ask a question and require the participant to speak into a microphone for their answer. These question types must be followed by a non-microphone alternative question incase the participant has no microphone or has it disabled in their web browser. Voice (No Engine) does not actually check if what the user said was accurate it is just a way of getting users to try and say a word.
Choose the 'Voice (Google Engine)' question type from the dropdown.

You can then type your question text in the Question box highlighted in green.

If wanted you can upload an image to display to the user by clicking the 'Choose Image' button otherwise you can add a voice answer by clicking the 'Add Voice Answer' highlighted in green here.

A popup message will let you get ready to record a voice answer. After clicking 'ok' you can speak into your microphone an answer you would like to use as an answer.

As the google engine is not 100% accurate, it is a good idea to try adding additional voice answers as sometimes your answer gets interpreted as different words ie when there are a few similar sounding words.

If you add a voice question it must be followed by a non-voice question which will be used as an alternative question if the user has no microphone or has disabled it in their browser settings. In this image the module was saved with no alternative question after the voice question which the module creator/editor gets a warning about.

To add an non-voice question simply click the 'Insert Question' button.

You can see here that the question heading is titled 'Non-Microphone alternative' you can then choose any non-voice question type from the 'Question type' section and save your module.

Voice (PapaReo Engine)
This question type is similar to the Voice question(google engine) and allows creators to ask participants a question, to which they must speak their answer into a their microphone. This voice recognition question only recognizes Māori spoken language. The question type rates what was spoken compared to a text answer and gives a percentage score. Creators must give a target score which participants need as a minimum to get the question correct.
Choose the 'Voice (PapaReo Engine)' question type from the dropdown.

You can then type your question text in the Question box highlighted in green.

The Korero engine takes the spoken word/s recorded and creates a percentage score of how close to the answer word it was. Using our 'Target average score' slider you can choose what the minimum percentage a user needs to achieve to get the question correct. 65 - 75% is a good start range.

You can set the 'Record Time' which is how long a user has to speak their answer into their microphone.

You can now enter in the word you would like the user to speak. These words must be Māori words.

Part of voice questions require a non-microphone alternative question. This is used incase a user does not have a microphone. There is a smaller list of alternative question types as seen in the drop down in the image to the right.

What a user sees
For someone playing through the Voice (PapaReo Engine) question type There will be 2 buttons. 'Practice' which lets the user try as many times as they want to get the pronunciation correct.

After clicking the 'Practice' button the button below it will change to reflect the remaining time the user has to say the answer into their microphone.

After the time limit is reached a breakdown of the users attempt is displayed. Here we can see the total percentage they got for their spoken answer along with a letter by letter breakdown of their attempt. Darker colours represent a lower percentage which helps the user see what areas of a word they need to work on.

Once a user is ready to make an official attempt they can click the 'Push to Start' button.

Similar to the Practice button, the user is shown the remaining time they have to say their answer into the microphone

After the time limit is reached a breakdown of the users attempt is displayed. A user can try again after a failed attempt. Displayed under the letter percentages is the users remaining attempts on this question. In this image we can see they user has 2 attempts left.
